Read the clock as a return deadline
The objective is to collect items within the allotted time, bring them to Barry, reach the quota, and escape. A nearly finished clock is therefore a reason to reassess the whole return trip, not just whether one more nearby item can be picked up.

Red lights flash when Red Gas is released.
Budget for the route back, delivery, and finding the way out. A short outward route can still become difficult to retrace in a changing layout, especially if your group has split up.
Watch for the red-light signal
Red lights flash when Red Gas is released. Respond to that warning instead of waiting for a presumed universal number of seconds after zero. No exact damage interval or safe overtime allowance is established here.
Glowsticks can help preserve the route you already explored. Sketch-A-Map provides an overhead view of the nearby space, teammates, and Barry. Neither item should be treated as a way to pause the timer.
The exit still depends on the quota
The launch changes make the exit hatch open automatically once the quota is reached. The timer expiring is not a substitute for completing that requirement.
If the cart appears full, distinguish its pending contents from items already sent. The revised quota display separates blue pending value from yellow delivered value. Check the actual quota state before concluding that the hatch should already be open.
Keep timer planning simple: turn back with a route in mind, communicate the return, and avoid promising your teammates an exact overtime window that you have not confirmed in the current tutorial.
