The dates that affect access
| Event | Date | Meaning for players |
|---|---|---|
| Open beta began | October 1, 2026 | Temporary playtest access opened |
| Open beta ended | October 4, 2026 | That test window closed |
| Steam Early Access launch | October 21, 2026 | The released Early Access game became available |
| Full 1.0 release | No fixed date confirmed | A separate future development milestone |
The expired beta and the released game are different access situations. An old playtest code does not reopen the October test. To start playing after launch, use the current Escape from Playtime Steam game rather than trying to revive the beta entry.
What the Early Access release includes
The launch starts in Playcare School and supports one to eight players. Eight Smiling Critters are playable across initial choices and progression unlocks. The core activity is to explore changing factory layouts, gather resources for Barry, and survive long enough to leave.

Additional areas and features are part of ongoing development. A roadmap describes intended work; it does not mean every planned feature is already present in your installed version.
Planning around the full release
The development target is roughly a year in Early Access, with timing dependent on how the game develops. Treat that as an estimate rather than a guaranteed 1.0 date.
The October 21 launch also confirms the Steam PC release, not an accompanying PS5, Xbox, Android, or iOS release. If a particular platform determines whether you can join your friends, check that platform separately before making plans.
