Separate a stalled join from access problems
Make sure both players can launch the current Escape from Playtime game. The October open-beta window has ended; an invitation to an expired test is not equivalent to joining the released Early Access version.
Also separate three symptoms: an invitation that never arrives, a join that remains on a loading message, and a crash. They occur at different stages, so reporting all of them simply as multiplayer not working makes the problem harder to describe.
Retry once with a clear host
- Agree which player is hosting and have that person open a fresh session.
- Send a new invitation through the Steam friends list.
- Note whether the invitation arrives, whether it is accepted, and where progress stops.
- If the same message persists, record the result rather than repeating the same attempt without new information.
A missing public lobby browser is a separate launch limitation. It does not explain every stalled friend invitation, and waiting for random matchmaking will not complete this join.
Capture a reproducible bug report
Record the game version shown to you, whether you were hosting or joining, the steps immediately before the message, and whether another player could enter that host's session. Add a screenshot or short video if available.
Use the game's bug-report route or the Mob Entertainment bug board for the connection problem. A reproducible sequence is more useful than a promise that changing an unrelated graphics setting, opening unspecified ports, or reinstalling must fix the session.
